5 Free Agent Signings the Washington Redskins…

The enigmatic Philadelphia Eagle has fallen out of favor, and it looks for sure that he will be leaving Philly at years’ end.

The Washington Redskins will be interested in DeSean Jackson come the offseason.

DeSean has plagued the Redskins, most notably in last season’s blowout with a 91-yard TD on the first drive of the game. He would be a great weapon to have over the next few years.

There are a few concerns with D-Jax, though.

For one, it would be a bad idea to sign him for more than two or three years. He has been injury-prone and has not shown the ability to produce consistently.

Consider this—Jackson has never caught more than 63 balls in a season. In my opinion, to be a No. 1 receiver in this league, a wide receiver must be consistently great.

Jackson has only shown the ability to run fast and catch the deep ball.

Additionally, his skills as a punt-returner are overrated. In his four years in the league, he has only run back four punts for touchdowns.

Devin Hester does that in one season.

While D-Jax would be an exciting signing, I don’t think he would be the best fit in D.C. The ‘Skins need to sign a receiver who their new QB can throw to 10-15 times a game.

Jackson is a shiny toy, but the Redskins just need a solid possession receiver.

That’s all for today guys, i’ll be back to blog you tomorrow.

Redskins Sign CB Thompson to Active Roster

ASHBURN, Va.- The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that they have signed cornerback Brandyn Thompson to the team’s 53-man roster. The team also waived cornerback Domonique Johnson.

Thompson (5-10, 177) spent the first four weeks of the season and Weeks 8-9 on the Redskins’ active roster, appearing in two games. Thompson saw action at cornerback in the Redskins’ Week 2 win against Arizona, and he appeared on special teams in Washington’s Week 3 game against Dallas.

Thompson was selected by the Redskins in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft last April after having appeared in 49 games at Boise State. For his college career, he amassed 146 tackles (95 solo), seven tackles for loss, 13 interceptions and three fumble recoveries.

With the addition of Thompson to the active roster, the Redskins currently have nine of their 12 draft choices from the 2011 NFL Draft on their active roster. Rookie wide receiver Aldrick Robinson is currently on the team’s practice squad.

Rookie wide receiver Leonard Hankerson and rookie defensive end Jarvis Jenkins are on the Reserve/Injured list.

There is the quick update of the day.

Cowboys hand Redskins their sixth consecutive loss

LANDOVER, Md. — All Mike Shanahan wanted to talk about Sunday after the Washington Redskins’ sixth consecutive loss — his longest slide as an NFL head coach and the franchise’s worst run under owner Dan Snyder — was the “poise” and “effort” of his players.

One player who stood up and heaped plenty of blame on himself: Redskins cornerback De-Angelo Hall. He was beaten by Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant for a 26-yard pass from Tony Romo on third-and-15 in overtime, setting up the winning field goal for the Cowboys in their 27-24 victory over Washington.

“I can’t point a finger at anybody but myself,” said Hall, who also let Bryant get behind him on a 24-yard touchdown pass during the first quarter.

Washington (3-7) was in position to win in overtime, winning the coin flip and setting up kicker Graham Gano for a 52-yard field goal. But it sailed wide right, just like Gano’s missed try from 49 yards in the third quarter.

“It’s not one of those games where we just got beat down. We gave it away. We gave that one away,” said Redskins wide receiver Jabar Gaffney. “We’ve got to learn how to win again.”

Dallas (6-4) then got the ball at its 42-yard line. Facing third-and-long from Washington’s 44, Romo got the ball to Bryant to not only extend the drive but also put the Cowboys in range for kicker Dan Bailey, whose 39-yard field goal ended the game 9:21 into overtime.

Redskins Injury Report, Week 11: Santana Moss Out,…

Read More: Santana Moss (WR – WAS), Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins head into Dallas this Sunday with a losing streak and a number of players limping. Washington has 12 players on its injury report for Week 11.

Wide receiver Santana Moss will be out for the game, so there’s no help for Washington’s already anemic passing attack in his case. And hard-hitting safety LaRon Landry is questionable with an Achilles injury, though he did practice on Friday.

Here’s the Redskins injury report for Week 11:

OUT: Linebacker Keyaron Fox (infection), wide receiver Santana Moss (hand), wide receiver Niles Paul (toe).

DOUBTFUL: none.

QUESTIONABLE: Offensive tackle Jammal Brown (groin), guard Maurice Hurt (knee), safety LaRon Landry (Achilles), offensive tackle Sean Locklear.

PROBABLE: Safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (toe/knee), running back Tashard Choice (hamstring), safety Reed Doughty (chest), linebacker London Fletcher (ankle), tight end Logan Paulson (shoulder).
